Any citizen or resident of the United states who shall have been decorated by the French Gavernment with the National Order of Merit may become a member as provided in the By-Laws.

The objects and purpose of the Society as stated in the Certificate of Incorporation filed with the Secretary of State, are:

  • To provide a social and fraternal medium by which members of the French Order of Merit who are resident in the United States may cooperate in taking such action from time to time as shall seem to them likely to promote and uphold the traditions, prestige and standars of said Order.
  • To promote appreciation in the United States of French culture and literature, and in France of American Culture and literature, and generally to do everything tending to strengthen the traditional friendship and good will existing between the peooples of the United States and France.
